The Harm to Everyone

Constituents Lose

• Voters are stripped of their voice: lines are redrawn for political advantage, not community fairness.

• Democrats may celebrate temporary gains, but once this precedent is set, future legislatures can manipulate maps in the opposite direction.

Against the Will of the People

In 2008 and 2010, Californians voted overwhelmingly to take redistricting out of politicians’ hands. Prop 50 tramples those votes, sending a message that when politicians don’t like the rules, they simply change them.

No Real Representation
